Available to employers with a minimum of 5 employees. 

STD & LTD: Income Protection Above TDI

  Hawaii TDI covers the statutory minimum, which is up to $871/week in 2026. For employees earning above the TDI wage base, or who want more complete income replacement, STD and LTD fill the gap. A 40-year-old has a 1-in-4 chance of a disability lasting 90+ days before age 65.


Available as employer-paid, voluntary or cost-shared.

🩼 STD (Short-Term Disability)

  •  60–70% income replacement
  • Elimination (waiting) period: 0–14 days
  • Benefit period: up to 2 years

👨🏽‍🦽‍➡️ LTD (Long-Term Disability)

  •  60–70% income replacement
  • Elimination (waiting) period: 30-180 days
  • Benefit period: up to age 65/67

Voluntary Benefits: Zero Cost to the Employer

 Voluntary benefits are employee-paid plans offered through the worksite, that are typically offered at zero cost to the employer (unless the owner choses to contribute as part of an employee-bonus program to increase retention).


These benefits pay employees cash directly when they get hurt, get sick, or are hospitalized, regardless of what health insurance covers. Money goes straight to their bank account and can be used for anything: bills, rent, lost income, groceries.


Average employee take rate when properly presented: 40–60% of the workforce. 

🩹 Accident & Injury Insurance

 Pays cash directly for ER visits, fractures, surgery, ambulance transport, and physical therapy. Includes a wellness benefit and $50,000 AD&D rider.

🏥 Hospital Indemnity / GAP Plan

 Covers deductibles, co-insurance and co-pays health insurance leaves behind. A daily or per-admission cash benefit employees can use for anything.

🎗️ Critical Illness & Cancer Insurance

 Lump-sum cash on diagnosis of cancer, heart attack, stroke, or other covered critical events. Up to $75,000 paid directly to the employee, for treatment, travel, lost income, or any other need.

💰 Section 125 / POP Plan (pre-taxing)

 When you add group voluntary benefits, a Section 125 Premium-Only Plan allows employees to pay premiums with pre-tax dollars, saving the employer approximately 7.65% in FICA taxes on every participating dollar.
